How do you test the crank angle sensor on a vr?

Testing a Crank Angle Sensor on a VR (VW):

WARNING: Only perform this test if the engine is completely cool.

Locate the crank angle sensor. On a VR engine, it is typically located on the front of the engine block near the crankshaft.

Disconnect the wiring connector from the crank angle sensor.

Connect a multimeter set to AC voltage.

Connect one probe of the multimeter to the signal wire on the crank angle sensor connector and the other probe to the ground.

Crank the engine over by hand.

The multimeter should display an AC voltage reading that fluctuates between 0.5 to 1.5 volts.

If the multimeter does not display a voltage reading, the crank angle sensor may be faulty or the wiring may be damaged.

Reconnect the wiring connector to the crank angle sensor.
