1. Park the car on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Chock the wheels to prevent the car from rolling.
3. Jack up the front of the car and place jack stands under the frame.
4. Remove the front wheels.
5. Locate the steering rack gaiter. It is a rubber boot that covers the steering rack.
6. Pry off the old steering rack gaiter. Use a flat-head screwdriver or a pry bar to pry the old gaiter off of the steering rack.
7. Clean the steering rack. Use a degreaser and a rag to clean the steering rack.
8. Apply a new coat of grease to the steering rack. Use a lithium-based grease to lubricate the steering rack.
9. Slide the new steering rack gaiter onto the steering rack. Make sure that the gaiter is properly seated on the steering rack.
10. Clamp the new steering rack gaiter in place. Use a hose clamp to clamp the new gaiter in place.
11. Reinstall the front wheels and lower the car.
12. Test the steering rack. Turn the steering wheel left and right to make sure that the steering rack is working properly.
Tips:
* If you do not have a pry bar, you can use a large screwdriver or a pair of pliers to pry off the old steering rack gaiter.
* If you do not have a degreaser, you can use a mild detergent and water to clean the steering rack.
* If you do not have a lithium-based grease, you can use any other type of grease.
Warning:
Do not use excessive force when prying off the old steering rack gaiter. This could damage the steering rack.
