How many Australian car brands are there?

There are currently no Australian car brands actively manufacturing and selling new cars. Holden, once a major player, ceased production of its own branded vehicles in 2020. While some companies may produce vehicles *in* Australia for other brands, there isn't an independent Australian brand building and selling new cars on the global or domestic market.
