In Ohio, children under the age of 4 must be properly secured in a rear-facing car seat unless they weigh 40 pounds or are 40 inches tall. Children ages 4-7 must be in a booster seat unless they are 4'9" tall. There's no age restriction after that, meaning anyone 8 and older can sit in the front seat.
