How many people die each year from being hit by a car?

In 2021, there were 42,915 fatal motor vehicle crashes in the United States, resulting in 49,780 deaths. Of those deaths, 6,560 were pedestrians who were hit by cars. This means that about 13% of all fatal car accidents involve a pedestrian being struck by a car.
