* Be aware of motorcycles in your blind spot. Motorcycles are small and can easily be hidden in your blind spot. Always check your mirrors and blind spots before changing lanes or turning.
* Give motorcyclists plenty of room. Motorcyclists need more room to maneuver than cars. When passing a motorcycle, give the rider at least four feet of space.
* Don't tailgate motorcycles. Tailgating a motorcycle can increase the risk of a collision. If you need to slow down, do so gradually and give the motorcyclist plenty of time to react.
* Be patient. Motorcycles are not as fast as cars, and they can be slower to get started. Be patient when driving behind a motorcycle, and don't honk your horn or tailgate.
* Look twice for motorcycles before turning or changing lanes. This will help you avoid cutting off a motorcyclist.
* Yield to motorcycles at intersections. Motorcyclists have the right-of-way at intersections, even if they are not the first vehicle to arrive.
* Be aware of motorcycles that are filtering through traffic. Motorcyclists may filter through traffic, which means they will ride between lanes of cars. Be aware of this and give them plenty of room.
