How do you fit rear brake pads on Mazda 6?

Tools Needed:

- Jack and jack stands

- Lug wrench

- Socket set

- Flat-head screwdriver

- C-clamp

- Brake cleaner

- New brake pads

- Brake grease

Instructions:

1. Park the car on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels, but do not remove them completely.

3. Jack up the car and secure it on the jack stands.

4. Remove the lug nuts and wheels.

5. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry off the dust cap on the brake caliper.

6. Locate the brake caliper bolts and remove them using a socket wrench.

7. Carefully remove the brake caliper from the rotor, taking care not to spill any brake fluid.

8. Inspect the brake pads for wear. If they are less than 2 mm thick, they must be replaced.

9. If the brake pads need to be replaced, compress the caliper piston using a C-clamp.

10. Apply a thin layer of brake grease to the back of the new brake pads.

11. Install the new brake pads into the caliper.

12. Reattach the brake caliper to the rotor and secure it with the bolts.

13. Reinstall the dust cap.

14. Repeat steps 5-13 for the other rear wheel.

15. Lower the car off the jack stands and reinstall the lug nuts and wheels.

16. Test the brakes by driving the car and applying the brakes firmly.
