You can't turn off Quadra-Trac in a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee in the same way you can disengage 4WD in other Jeep systems. The 1996 Grand Cherokee's Quadra-Trac is a
full-time four-wheel drive system. It automatically distributes power to the wheels as needed based on traction. There's no switch or lever to completely disengage it.
While you can't turn it *off*, the system is designed to behave like a rear-wheel drive vehicle under normal conditions, only sending power to the front wheels when needed for traction. It's always engaged. Driving on dry pavement doesn't cause any significant drivetrain issues.
