To determine the correct belt size, you need to:
1. Identify which belts are affected: Visually inspect the belt routing diagram (often found under the hood or in your owner's manual). This will show you which belt(s) run the AC compressor. You might need to remove only a portion of the existing belt, or you might need a shorter replacement belt entirely.
2. Measure the existing belt: The easiest way is to measure the *outside* circumference of the belt currently driving the AC compressor. Use a flexible tape measure and make sure it's snug but not stretched.
3. Check a parts store's database: Take the measurement (or better yet, the existing belt itself) to an auto parts store. They can use their computerized system to look up the correct replacement belt size based on your vehicle's year, make, model, and engine.
Important Note: Simply removing part of the belt without a proper replacement can damage other components of your serpentine system. It's much safer to get the appropriate shorter belt from an auto parts store.
