* Oil Pressure Sensor Issue: While less likely, a faulty oil pressure sensor could be sending a false signal to the light. However, a sensor fault wouldn't usually explain the speed at which the light started flashing after the oil change.
* Incorrect Oil: Using the wrong type or viscosity of oil can affect the oil pump's ability to move oil correctly. Check your owner's manual to confirm you used the correct oil.
What to do immediately:
1. Stop driving the vehicle immediately. Continuing to drive with a flashing oil light risks serious engine damage.
2. Check the oil level: Use the dipstick to check the oil level. If it's low, add the correct type and amount of oil specified in your owner's manual. Do not overfill.
3. Inspect for leaks: Look carefully under the vehicle for any oil leaks.
