Where is the fuel pump shut off switch on a 2002 Ford Escape?

The 2002 Ford Escape does not have a readily accessible fuel pump shut-off switch like some other vehicles. There's no easily located button or switch in the passenger compartment or under the hood. The fuel pump is controlled electronically, and the only way to reliably cut off fuel flow in an emergency situation is to disconnect the fuel pump's electrical connector (a more involved process requiring some mechanical knowledge). This connector is located in the fuel pump module usually found within the fuel tank and accessible only by dropping the fuel tank. This is *not* a job for a novice.
