The electric vehicle era has already gone through several milestones. First, there was the birth of Tesla in 2009–an all-electric automaker aiming to breakthrough a 100-year-old gasoline/diesel powered vehicle tradition. Then, there was the release of several 200+ mile affordable electric vehicles in 2017, such as the Tesla Model 3 and Chevy Bolt. Then, beginning this year, there will be not just one, but up to NINE ELECTRIC TRUCKS by 2023.
Let’s run through the list. Here are nine electric trucks by 2023:
The Tesla Cybertruck is definitely one of the most hyped electric truck on this list. Moreover, it may even be the most hyped vehicle ever. With a starting price under $40,000, this latest Tesla product will surely sell well.
While the design is highly controversial, its specs are going to be very hard to beat given its pricing. The rest of the competition may come up with something more conventional, but they may struggle with Tesla’s value proposition.

In the event you have not heard yet, Rivian is another all-electric automaker from the U.S. Only recently did Rivian emerge from stealth mode to unveil their first product–the R1T.
Like Tesla, Rivian aims to electrify transportation. What sets Rivian apart from Tesla is Rivian is targeting their vehicles towards outdoor adventurists, while Tesla’s market is geared towards tech-savvy individuals.
Without selling a single vehicle, Rivian was able to garner $1.3B investments from Ford and Amazon. With deep-pocketed investors, a compelling product, Rivian looks to take a decent piece from the electric truck market.
If the R1T doesn’t suit your style, there’s the R1S, a seven-seat SUV expected to be released in 2021.

With $500 million invested in electric truck automaker Rivian, Ford is speculated to use the Rivian platform for their upcoming electric Ford F-150. Specs like price, range, and towing are still under wraps. It is estimated that Ford will release its electric truck in 2021.
After debuting the all-electric Mustang Mach-E earlier this year, Ford looks to be electrifying current offerings with the F-150 next. The tide for electric vehicles is slowly gaining momentum.

The Hummer is back, but with a twist. GM appears to be bringing back the Hummer, but instead of the gas-guzzling transmission, it will be all-electric. Details are scarce but expect a release around 2022 and possibly on their new all-electric BEV3 platform. A reveal is planned for May 20th, 2020.

In addition to the GMC Electric Hummer, GM appears to be working on a conventional electric truck to compete against Ford, Tesla, and Rivian. No further details are currently available except for an anticipated release in 2021 and a possible release on the aforementioned BEV3 platform.

Another electric startup? Yes, Bollinger arrived at the electric vehicle scene earlier this decade. As opposed to Tesla and Rivian, Bollinger is taking a more niche approach. Their first product, the B2, is essentially an electric Jeep Gladiator.

Another electric startup? Yes, again! Atlis announced to the world last year that they will be releasing an all-electric truck. The specs are very, very impressive, however, information on capital investments, battery supply, and a tested product remain to be seen.
Nevertheless, keep an eye on Atlis as they attempt to prove themselves in a spontaneous crowded electric truck marketplace.

Ok seriously, another electric truck startup? Right again! Lordstown Motors arrived publicly by purchasing the Lordstown factory from GM in 2019. I wonder where they got their name..Anyway, details are limited with the exception that they will begin sales in 2021 with an electric truck starting price of $52,000.

Okay, this one is purely speculation, however, Fiat Chrysler, the company that owns Ram, couldn’t possibly stand by and watch eight other automakers produce electric trucks. It may take Ram some time to build a new platform suited for an electric vehicle, but I would expect them to rush to release an electric Ram truck by 2023.
