To find it:
1. Consult your owner's manual: This is the most reliable source. It will show you exactly where the dipstick is located and the type of transmission fluid to use.
2. Look around the engine: The transmission dipstick is usually near the engine, often on the passenger side but sometimes on the driver's side. It's typically a long, thin dipstick with markings for "add" and "full". It may be yellow, red, or another bright color.
3. Check near the transmission itself: The transmission is a large, usually metal, component located toward the rear of the engine compartment. The dipstick might be close to it, though not necessarily directly on it.
If you can't find the dipstick: Do NOT attempt to add transmission fluid without knowing precisely where the fill point is. Incorrectly adding fluid could damage the transmission. Take it to a mechanic to get the fluid level checked and topped off if needed.
