Can a tornado pick up car and throw it mile?

While a tornado is capable of picking up a car, throwing it a *mile* is extremely unlikely. Tornadoes can lift and move heavy objects, but the distance they're carried depends on several factors including the tornado's strength (measured on the Enhanced Fujita scale), the car's weight and aerodynamics, and the duration the car remains airborne. A mile is a considerable distance; most cars carried by tornadoes are deposited within a much shorter range. While there are anecdotal accounts of objects being carried long distances, verified instances of a car being thrown a full mile by a tornado are extremely rare, if they exist at all.
