3. Visually inspect the engine: Once you've gotten a general idea from a diagram, look for a pump driven by the serpentine belt that has fluid lines running to and from the steering rack. It will likely be a fairly substantial component.
Remember to always be careful when working around the engine compartment. The engine should be cool and off.
