* Under the hood in the fuse box: This is the most common location. The fuse box is usually either near the battery or on the driver's side fender. Check the fuse box diagram (often on the inside of the fuse box cover) to see if a headlight relay is listed and its location within the box.
* In the under-dash fuse panel: Less common, but some models place relays here. Again, check the fuse box diagram.
* Behind the glove box: Another less common, but possible, location.
To find it:
1. Consult your owner's manual: This is the best place to start. The manual should have a diagram of the fuse box(es) and relay locations.
2. Check the fuse box diagrams: Even without the manual, the fuse box covers often have diagrams showing the fuse and relay locations.
3. Visually inspect the fuse boxes: If the diagrams aren't clear, carefully examine the relays in both fuse boxes. Headlight relays are usually fairly large compared to other relays. You may be able to identify it by comparing the relay to a diagram online that shows a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am GT's relay layout (if available).
4. Use a multimeter (optional): If you're comfortable with basic electrical testing, a multimeter can help you trace the headlight circuit and identify the relay. Caution: This involves working with car electrical systems and should only be done if you're familiar with safe practices.
If you can't locate it yourself, a local auto parts store might have a wiring diagram or be able to assist.
