Where is the fuel filter located for a 1986 corvette?

On a 1986 Corvette (C4), the fuel filter is located in the fuel tank. It's not a replaceable, separate filter like on many other vehicles. The entire fuel pump assembly, which includes the filter, needs to be replaced as a unit if the filter is deemed faulty.
