Does a 1986 Chevy truck have an engine computer?

Most 1986 Chevy trucks did not have a sophisticated engine computer like those found in later model years. While they might have had some electronic ignition control and perhaps a basic fuel injection system with some rudimentary electronic components, they generally lacked the full-fledged Engine Control Unit (ECU) or Powertrain Control Module (PCM) found in later vehicles. The level of electronic control varied depending on the engine and options. Some engines were still carbureted and entirely mechanical.
