What was the Japanese first car sold in US?

The first Japanese car sold in significant numbers in the US was the Datsun 1200 (also known as the Datsum 510 in some markets). While a few other Japanese cars might have trickled in earlier, the Datsun 1200's success in the early 1960s marked the real beginning of the Japanese automotive presence in the American market.
