What will happen if you put too much transmission fluid in your car?

Putting too much transmission fluid in your car can cause several problems, most stemming from the fluid being forced into areas it shouldn't be:

* Foam formation: Excess fluid can churn and create foam, which doesn't lubricate properly. This reduces the transmission's ability to transfer power smoothly and efficiently.

* Seals damage: The increased pressure from the excess fluid can push on seals and gaskets within the transmission, causing them to leak or fail prematurely. This can lead to fluid loss (ironically!) and further damage.

* Overheating: The excess fluid can impede proper heat dissipation, leading to the transmission overheating and causing damage to internal components.

* Internal component damage: The extra fluid can put undue stress on various parts of the transmission, such as bearings and gears, potentially leading to premature wear and failure.

In short, overfilling your transmission is much worse than underfilling. Always stick to the recommended fluid level specified in your owner's manual.
