It uses a sophisticated electronic system with various relays controlling different circuits. While there are individual relays for various functions (fuel pump, headlights, etc.), turning them off individually won't shut the car down completely.
To "shut off" the car, you use the ignition switch in the usual way – turning the key to the "off" position. This cuts power to the main systems.
