If your check engine light isn't working, the issue lies within one of these areas:
* PCM: The PCM itself might be faulty. This is the most likely scenario if other things related to the engine's electronic controls are also malfunctioning.
* Wiring: A broken or corroded wire in the circuit between the PCM and the check engine light bulb is another possibility.
* Bulb: The bulb in the instrument cluster itself might have burned out. This is the easiest thing to check first.
* Instrument Cluster: In rare cases, a problem with the instrument cluster itself could prevent the light from illuminating.
To diagnose the problem, you should have the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) read using an OBD-II scanner. This will tell you *why* the check engine light is on (or why it's not coming on when it should be). A faulty PCM, or wiring issue, wouldn't show up as a specific "relay" problem.
