* On the frame rail near the rear bumper: Another less common but possible location.
To find it reliably:
1. Consult your owner's manual: This is your best bet. The manual should show a diagram of the trailer wiring harness and its connector locations.
2. Look for a 7-way or 4-way connector: These connectors are usually rectangular and fairly large. They might be partially hidden behind trim pieces. If your truck has a 7-way connector, the electric brake wire is usually one of the thicker wires.
3. Trace the wiring harness: If you can't easily locate the connector, start at the rear taillights and trace the wiring harness back towards the frame. This often leads you to the main connector.
4. Check under the truck: Once you've inspected the typical locations, get under your truck and thoroughly check along the frame rails, near the rear bumper and suspension components.
