2. Check the fluid level: Check your transmission fluid level using the dipstick (if your car has one, many older cars didn't). Low fluid is obviously a symptom, but not the source of the problem.
3. Inspect the transmission pan gasket: Look for any visible signs of damage, such as cracks, hardening, or bulging.
4. Examine the transmission cooler lines: Carefully check these lines for any signs of corrosion, cracks, or leaks.
