How do you get the back hatch open on a 1984 corvette?

A 1984 Corvette doesn't have a "back hatch." It has a rear hatch or trunk lid. It opens using a release lever located inside the car, usually on the driver's side, near the console or on the lower part of the dashboard, in the immediate vicinity of the floor.

There's no external handle or key release. You have to use the interior release lever to open it.
