Gather your materials, including:
- A vacuum cleaner with a long hose and an attachment for cleaning coils.
- A mild dish soap.
- A bucket filled with warm water.
- A pair of rubber gloves.
- Safety glasses.
1. Open the hood and locate the evaporator coil. It is located behind the dashboard, usually behind the glove box.
2. Remove the glove box and the plastic cover that is behind the glove box to expose the evaporator coil.
3. Put on your rubber gloves and safety glasses to protect yourself from the cleaning chemicals.
4. Use the vacuum cleaner to remove as much dust and dirt as possible from the evaporator coil.
5. Mix a solution of mild dish soap and warm water in the bucket.
6. Use a soft cloth to apply the soapy water to the evaporator coil, and scrub it gently to remove any remaining dirt and debris.
7. Rinse the evaporator coil thoroughly with clean water to remove any traces of soap.
8. Allow the evaporator coil to dry completely before reinstalling the plastic cover and the glove box.
