1. Faulty Airbag Sensor
The airbag sensor is responsible for detecting a collision and triggering the deployment of the airbags. A faulty sensor may not detect a collision, leading to the airbag not deploying when necessary.
2. Wiring Issues
Wiring problems can disrupt the communication between the airbag sensor and the car's computer, preventing the airbags from deploying. Corroded or loose wires are common causes of wiring issues.
3. Clock Spring Malfunction
The clock spring is a spiral cable that connects the steering wheel controls, including the airbag, to the rest of the car's electrical system. If the clock spring malfunctions, it can prevent the airbag from receiving the signal to deploy.
4. Faulty Airbag Module
The airbag module is responsible for controlling the deployment of the airbags. A faulty module may not receive or process the signals correctly, leading to the airbag light staying on.
5. Damaged Airbag
In some cases, the airbag itself may be damaged or defective, causing the light to stay on. This can happen due to a manufacturing fault, wear and tear, or collision damage.
