1. Park your vehicle on a level surface and allow the engine to cool down completely.
2. Locate the radiator drain plug. On the 1996 Pontiac Grand Am SE, the radiator drain plug is usually located at the bottom of the radiator, on the driver's side. It is a small, plastic plug with a slot for a screwdriver or flat blade.
3. Place a drain pan under the radiator drain plug to catch the coolant.
5. Use a screwdriver or flat blade to turn the radiator drain plug counterclockwise until it is fully open.
6. Allow all of the coolant to drain from the radiator. This may take a few minutes.
7. Once all of the coolant has drained, close the radiator drain plug by turning it clockwise until it is snug.
8. Dispose of the old coolant properly. Coolant is a hazardous material and should not be poured down the drain or disposed of in the trash.
