When was the motor car made?

The earliest self-propelled road vehicles were developed in the late 18th century. The first internal combustion engine was invented by Belgian-born Étienne Lenoir around 1860. The first successful gasoline-powered automobile was built by German inventor Karl Benz in 1885. Motor cars became widely available in the early 20th century. The first mass-produced car was the Ford Model T, which was introduced in 1908.
