1. Open the glove compartment fully.
2. Press the tabs or buttons on the sides of the glove compartment and pull it down to release it.
3. Locate the cabin air filter housing. In most Kia Sportage models, it's positioned behind the glove compartment. It's a rectangular box with a plastic cover.
4. Depending on your specific Sportage model, you may need to remove the cover by pressing the tabs or sliding it off.
5. Once the cover is removed, you'll see the cabin air filter inside the housing. It's a rectangular, pleated paper filter.
6. Gently pull the filter out of the housing. Be careful not to drop any debris into the housing.
7. Inspect the filter for any signs of dirt, debris, or damage. If it's dirty or damaged, it needs to be replaced.
8. Install a new cabin air filter by placing it in the housing with the pleats facing down.
9. Make sure the filter is properly seated in the housing before closing the cover and reinstalling the glove compartment.
