Instructions:
1. Prepare the Trunk: Open the trunk of your 1995 Cadillac. Locate the access panel near the base of the antenna mast. It's usually covered with a plastic or rubber cap. Remove the cap to reveal the mounting bolts.
2. Disconnect the Power: Before removing the antenna, you must disconnect the power supply. Look for the power connector near the mounting bolts. It's usually a cylindrical-shaped connector with a wire harness. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the locking tab on the connector and pull it apart.
3. Remove the Mounting Bolts: Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to loosen and remove the mounting bolts that hold the power antenna in place. There may be two or more bolts, depending on your specific model.
4. Remove the Antenna Assembly: Once the mounting bolts are removed, gently lift the power antenna assembly out of the trunk. Handle it with care, as the antenna mast may still be extended and could be fragile.
5. Detach the Antenna Mast: The antenna mast is usually held in place by a nut or a small bolt. Use a socket wrench and an extension bar to loosen and remove the nut or bolt. Slide the antenna mast out of the housing.
6. Disconnect the Antenna Wire: Locate the antenna wire inside the trunk. It may be coiled up or secured with clips or tape. Carefully untangle the wire and disconnect it from the antenna base.
7. Remove the Antenna Base: Some Cadillac models have a separate antenna base mounted to the trunk lid. If your model does, use the socket wrench to remove the bolts holding the base in place. Remove the base and any associated brackets.
8. Clean Up the Mounting Surface: Use a cloth or brush to clean the mounting surface in the trunk where the antenna was installed. This will help ensure a proper seal when installing a new antenna.
Remember, if the power antenna is seized or stuck in the up position, you may need to use a penetrating oil to loosen the mechanism and allow it to move freely.
