Your 2002 truck 1500 doesnt switch from defrost to vent?

1. Check the vacuum lines. There is a vacuum line that runs from the engine to the HVAC control panel. If this line is cracked or loose, it can prevent the vacuum from operating the blend door.

2. Check the vacuum actuator. The vacuum actuator is a small device that moves the blend door. If vacuum has pulled its diaphragm then it won't move as required for switching of the door position. Replace it.

3. Check the blend door. The blend door is a flap that directs air from the heater core to the vents. If the blend door is stuck or broken, it can prevent the air from flowing to the vents. Check and rectify by moving its lever on the HVAC box or directly rotate the gear attached to its shaft or replace

4. Check wiring harness that attaches from HVAC control head to control box under passenger area near passenger feet for broken wires.
