What is the use of power and torque in a car?

Power:

Power is the rate at which work is done. In a car, power is measured in horsepower (hp). The higher the horsepower, the faster a car can accelerate and the higher top speed it can reach.

Torque:

Torque is the twisting force that is applied to the wheels of a car. The higher the torque, the more pulling power the car has and the easier it is to accelerate.

Relationship between Power and Torque:

Power and torque are related in the following equation:

Power = Torque * RPM

Where RPM is the revolutions per minute.

This equation means that the power of a car is directly proportional to both torque and RPM. So, to produce more power, a car can increase its torque, its RPM, or both.
