Who invented solar powered cars?

The first practical solar-powered car was built by General Motors in 1955. The car, called the Sunmobile, was able to reach speeds of up to 25 miles per hour. In 1982, the University of New South Wales in Australia built the first solar-powered car to circumnavigate the globe. The car, called the Quiet Achiever, traveled over 16,000 miles during its journey. However, it wasn't until the early 2000s that solar-powered cars became commercially available. In 2002, Honda released the EV Plus, which was the first mass-produced solar-powered car. The EV Plus was followed by several other solar-powered cars, including the Toyota Prius, the Nissan Leaf, and the Tesla Model S. Today, solar-powered cars are still a relatively niche market, but they are becoming increasingly popular as the cost of solar panels continues to decrease.
