Check the hydraulic fluid level by opening the trunk and locating the hydraulic reservoir. The reservoir is a clear plastic tank with a black cap. The fluid level should be between the “MIN” and “MAX” marks on the tank. If the fluid level is low, add enough hydraulic fluid to bring it to the “MAX” mark.
2. Faulty hydraulic pump.
The hydraulic pump is responsible for providing the hydraulic pressure that powers the convertible top. If the pump is faulty, it will not be able to generate enough pressure to open the top. You can test the pump by placing a finger over the outlet port. If you feel suction, the pump is working properly.
3. Blocked hydraulic lines.
The hydraulic lines are the hoses that carry the hydraulic fluid from the pump to the convertible top cylinders. If the lines are blocked, the fluid will not be able to reach the cylinders. You can check the lines for blockages by inspecting them for any kinks or damage.
4. Faulty convertible top cylinders.
The convertible top cylinders are the devices that raise and lower the top. If the cylinders are faulty, they will not be able to operate the top. You can test the cylinders by applying air pressure to them. If the cylinders leak air, they are faulty and will need to be replaced.
5. Faulty convertible top switch.
The convertible top switch is the switch that you use to operate the top. If the switch is faulty, it will not be able to send the signal to the pump to open the top. You can test the switch by checking the electrical current with a voltmeter. If there is no current, the switch is faulty and will need to be replaced.
7. Faulty convertible top module.
The convertible top module is the computer that controls the operation of the top. If the module is faulty, it will not be able to send the correct signals to the pump and cylinders. You can test the module by diagnostic scan, if there are fault code, the module might needed to be reprogram or replace.
