Willys-Overland, an American automobile company, developed and produced the first Jeep, the Willys MB, for the United States military in 1941. The Willys MB was designed as a light, agile, and four-wheel drive vehicle for use in World War II. It quickly gained a reputation for its versatility and durability, and became one of the most iconic vehicles of the war. After the war, the Jeep name and design were licensed to several other companies, leading to the development of a wide range of Jeep vehicles for both military and civilian use.
