* A mousetrap
* A piece of wood (at least 6 inches long and 1 inch wide)
* 4 wheels
* 2 axles
* A rubber band
* A string or fishing line
* A weight (such as a nut or bolt)
* A pencil
* A saw
* A drill
* A screwdriver
* A hammer
* A pair of pliers
* A ruler
Once you have gathered all the materials, you can follow these steps to build the mousetrap car:
1. Cut the wooden board to the desired length (at least 6 inches long and 1 inch wide).
2. Drill holes in the board for the axles. The holes should be about 1/2 inch from each end of the board and should be wide enough to fit the axles.
3. Insert the axles into the holes.
4. Attach the wheels to the axles.
5. Tie a string or fishing line to the rear axle.
6. Attach the weight to the end of the string or fishing line.
7. Place the mousetrap on the board, with the trigger facing forward.
8. Attach the rubber band to the mousetrap and stretch it back.
9. Wind up the string or fishing line around the pencil.
10. Place the pencil in the slot on the mousetrap.
When the mousetrap is released, the rubber band will spin the wheels, causing the car to move forward. The car will travel until the pencil unwinds, releasing the string or fishing line and causing the car to stop.
You can experiment with different weights, lengths of string or fishing line, and positions of the wheels to make your mousetrap car go faster and farther.
