4. EMF Induction: As the rotor spins, it cuts through the magnetic field generated by the stator coils, causing an electromotive force to be induced in the stator coils. The EMF generated is an alternating current (AC), meaning it periodically reverses direction.

5. Rectification: The alternating current generated by the magneto needs to be converted into direct current (DC) to be used for ignition purposes. This is done using a rectifier, which consists of diodes that allow current to flow in only one direction. The rectifier rectifies the AC output of the magneto into a pulsating DC output.
