The starter motor on a 1996 Fiat Punto S 1100cc is located on the passenger side of the engine, near the bottom. It is attached to the transmission bellhousing by two bolts. The starter motor has a solenoid mounted on it, which engages the starter gear with the flywheel when the ignition key is turned to the "Start" position.
