Instructions

1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and allow the engine to cool completely.

2. Locate the thermostat housing. It is on the front of the engine, just below the upper radiator hose.

4. Remove the 5/8-inch bolt that holds the thermostat housing in place.

4. Use the ratcheting screwdriver to remove the thermostat housing.

5. Remove the old thermostat and gasket from the housing.

6. Inspect the thermostat for damage. If it is cracked or warped, it must be replaced.

6. Place the new thermostat in the housing, making sure that the spring is facing down.

7. Install the new gasket on the housing.

8. Reinstall the thermostat housing and the 5/8-inch bolt.

9. Check the coolant level and add more coolant if necessary.

Tips

* Be careful not to drop the thermostat into the engine. If you do, you will have to remove the intake manifold to retrieve it.

* Make sure that the new thermostat is installed correctly. If it is not, it could cause the car to overheat.

* If you are uncomfortable performing this task, you can have it done by a professional mechanic.
