* Make sure the engine is off and the vehicle is in Park or Neutral.
* Open the hood of the Polo.
* Locate the battery. Refer to your vehicle's owner manual for the exact location. Batteries in some cars may be located beneath a cover to protect them from the elements.
* Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. To do this, loosen the negative terminal bolt using a wrench. The wrench will most likely be a 10 mm. You may hear a popping noise when the terminal is disconnected.
* Disconnect the positive terminal of the battery. To do this, loosen the positive terminal bolt using a wrench.
* Remove the battery from the vehicle. To do this, lift the battery straight up and out of the battery compartment.
* Place the new battery in the battery compartment. Make sure that the positive terminal of the battery is facing the positive terminal on the vehicle, and that the negative terminal of the battery is facing the negative terminal on the vehicle.
* Connect the positive terminal of the battery. To do this, tighten the positive terminal bolt using the wrench.
* Connect the negative terminal of the battery. To do this, tighten the negative terminal bolt using the wrench.
* Close the hood of the Polo.
Your Volkswagen Polo's battery is now replaced.
