How do you bypass a relay to test an electric fuel pump?

Step 1: Locate the fuel pump relay.

The fuel pump relay is usually located in the fuse box under the hood of your vehicle. It may be labeled "Fuel Pump" or "FP." If you can't find the fuel pump relay, consult your vehicle's owner's manual.

Step 2: Remove the fuel pump relay.

Once you've found the fuel pump relay, remove it from its socket by pulling it straight up.

Step 3: Connect the jumper wire.

Connect the positive (+) terminal of the jumper wire to the socket in the relay that is labeled "Fuel Pump." Then connect the negative (-) terminal of the jumper wire to the socket that is labeled "Ground."

Step 4: Turn the ignition key to the "On" position.

The electric fuel pump should now run continuously. If it does not, there may be a problem with the pump itself or the wiring.

Step 5: Disconnect the jumper wire and replace the fuel pump relay.

Once you are finished testing the fuel pump, disconnect the jumper wire and replace the fuel pump relay.
