1. Open the hood of the car.
2. Locate the engine air filter housing. It is a black plastic box located on the left side of the engine, just below and in front of the brake fluid reservoir.
3. Remove the air filter housing cover. There are two clips that hold the cover in place. Pull the clips outward to release the cover.
4. Remove the air filter from the housing. The air filter is a large, rectangular piece of paper.
5. Inspect the air filter for damage or dirt. If the air filter is damaged or excessively dirty, replace it.
6. Reinstall the air filter in the housing.
7. Reinstall the air filter housing cover and close the hood of the car.
