Why do we used the ackermann steering in modern day cars?

The Ackermann steering geometry is not used in modern day cars. Most modern day cars use the rack and pinion system instead. The Ackermann steering geometry was used in older cars because it provided a better turning radius than the rack and pinion. However, the rack and pinion steering system is more efficient and easier to produce so it has replaced the Ackermann steering geometry in most modern day cars.
