- Faulty reverse light switch: When you shift your car into reverse, a switch is engaged that turns on the back-up lights. If the switch is malfunctioning, it won't send a signal to the lights, and they will remain off.
- Blown fuse: The fuse that powers the back-up lights may have blown. When a fuse blows, it stops the flow of electricity to the lights. Check the fuse box and replace the blown fuse with a new one.
- Bad connection: The connection between the wiring for the switch, tail lights and fuse may have become loose or broken. Check the connections and make sure they are tight and secure.
- Fault with the bulbs: Check to see that the back-up lights bulbs are not burned out. If they are burned out, replace them with new ones.
- Transmission Control Module (TCM) issues: The TCM controls various functions related to the transmission, including the reverse lights. If there's a problem with the TCM, it may affect the operation of the reverse lights.
If you are unable to fix the issue on your own, you should take your car to a certified mechanic for diagnosis and repair.
