- A completed Application for Certificate of Title (Form MV-1)
- The original vehicle title, signed over to you by the previous owner
- A bill of sale or other proof of purchase
- A VIN inspection certificate
- Proof of insurance
- A valid form of identification, such as a passport or state-issued ID card
- If the vehicle is subject to sales tax, you will also need to pay the applicable sales tax.
Once you have submitted all of the required documents and paid any applicable fees, the probate office will issue you a new certificate of title in your name. You will need to keep this certificate of title with you at all times when driving the vehicle.
