Tools Needed:
* Socket set
* Pliers
* Screwdriver
Instructions:
1. Open the hood of the car.
2. Locate the thermostat housing. It is usually mounted on the front or side of the engine near the top.
3. Disconnect the upper radiator hose from the thermostat housing. To do this, squeeze the hose clamp with a pair of pliers and pull the hose off the nipple.
4. Remove the two bolts that hold the thermostat housing in place.
5. Lift the thermostat housing off the engine.
6. Remove the thermostat from the housing. The thermostat is held in place by a single bolt.
7. Scrape away any old gasket material from the housing and thermostat mating surfaces.
8. Apply a thin coat of sealant to the gasket.
9. Place the new gasket in the housing.
10. Insert the thermostat into the housing and install the bolt.
11. Replace the thermostat housing and install the two bolts.
12. Reconnect the upper radiator hose.
13. Close the hood of the car.
Tips:
* When removing the bolts, be careful not to drop them into the engine compartment.
* Take care not to spill any coolant when removing the upper radiator hose.
* If the thermostat is stuck in the housing, you may need to pry it out with a screwdriver.
