Step 1: Gather the necessary tools.
You will need the following tools:
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- 10mm socket wrench
- 13mm socket wrench
Step 2: Locate the top release latch mint.
The top release latch mint is located on the inside of the convertible top, behind the driver's seat.
Step 3: Remove the rear seat.
You should first need to remove the rear seat cushions. Simply push on the bottom and lift them up. There is nothing holding them in place.
- After removing the cushions, locate the two 13mm bolts that hold the rear seat in place and removed them.
- Lift the rear seat up and out of the car.
Step 4: Remove the old top release latch mint.
Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry off the plastic cover of the top release latch mint.
Then use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the top release latch mint in place.
Step 5: Install the new top release latch mint.
Place the new top release latch mint in place and secure it with the two screws.
Replace the plastic cover of the top release latch mint.
Step 6: Test the top release latch mint.
Open and close the convertible top to test the top release latch mint.
The convertible top should open and close smoothly.
NOTE: If your old latch mint was broken due to a snapped cable:
1. Locate the cable inside the frame by the seat.
2. Feed the new cable inside the frame until you see it come out the other side next to the latch mint (make sure you leave enough slack to operate the latch).
3. Reattach the new cable to the latch mechanism and secure it with a zip tie.
