5. Remove the transmission drain plug. Once the transmission fluid has stopped draining, remove the drain plug.

6. Clean the transmission drain plug. Clean the drain plug with a clean rag.

7. Reinstall the transmission drain plug. Reinstall the drain plug and tighten it until it is snug.

11. Clean the transmission filter. Clean the transmission filter with a clean rag.

12. Install the new transmission filter. Install the new transmission filter and tighten the bolts until they are snug.

13. Lower your truck. Lower your truck from the jack stands.

14. Add the new transmission fluid. Add new transmission fluid through the transmission fluid fill tube until the fluid fills the bottom of the tube.

15. Check the transmission fluid level. Check the transmission fluid level with the dipstick when it's running and in park.

Tips

- When jacking up your truck, make sure that you use jack stands to support it. Never work on a vehicle that is only supported by a jack.

- Be careful not to overtighten the transmission drain plug or the transmission filter bolts.

- When adding new transmission fluid, make sure that you add the correct type of fluid Dexron VI.
