1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will prevent any electrical sparks or accidents while you are working.
2. Locate the headlight switch. It is located on the left side of the steering column, beneath the turn signal lever.
3. Remove the two screws that hold the headlight switch in place. These screws are located on the bottom of the switch.
4. Pull the headlight switch out from the steering column. There may be a few wires connecting the switch to the harness. If so, disconnect them carefully.
5. Install the new headlight switch by reversing the steps above.
Here are some additional tips for removing a headlight switch on a 1983 Dodge truck:
- If you are having difficulty removing the screws that hold the switch in place, you can use a screwdriver to gently pry them loose.
- Be careful not to damage the wires when disconnecting them from the switch.
